Inga's father, Per Jons Ronnander and his older son, Carl, had arrived a few years earlier and homesteaded a farm in Poppleton Township, Kittson County. The Sahlins settled nearby, on Section 24.
Another Ronnander daughter, Elizabeth, and her husband, Erick Brovall, also came to America about the same time and settled near the Ronnanders and Sahlins. The Brovalls had two daughters, Elin and Hidur, Mrs. Peter Westling and Mrs. Arnold Granheim of Hallock.
The Ronnanders, who came from Ostmark in the province of Varmland, had moved to Harjedalen after the birth of their first child, where August. Inga was born 19 Apr 1874. Martha, their 2nd daughter, was born in Sveg, Harjedalen on 25 Aug 1895.
The Sahlins arrived in America with three small daughters, Marie, Martha, and Esther.
