Alma Linea Lund Younggren

Alma L. Younggren, 90, Hallock, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1993 at Kittson County Memorial Nursing Home at Hallock where she had lived for the past 17 days.

The former Alma Linea Lund was born 23 Sep 1902 to John and Emma (Becklund) Lund in Richardville Township. She was baptized Nov. 11, 1902 at Sikar Lutheran Church in Granville Township by Rev. L. P. Lundgren and lived her entire life in Kittson County. She received her education at North Star School and Northcote School.

She was married to Stanley Younggren Dec. 6, 1921 at the Lutheran Parsonage in Hallock by Rev. L. P. Lundgren. After their marriage they lived on a farm in Hill Township until 1954 when they retired and moved into Hallock. Stanley died March 19, 1980.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law; Dean and Muriel, Harold and Lucille, and John and Mae Younggren, all of Hallock; two daughters and sons-in-law; Lois and Jerry Lindegard, Hallock and Carolyn and Wayne Nelson, Lake Park. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren, three sisters; Anna (Mrs. Edward Younggren), Hallock; Ellen (Mrs. Art) Haugen and Ruth (Mrs. Otto) Syversten, St. Paul; sisters-in-law June Lund of Hallock and Ethel Lund of Grand Forks. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers and a sister.

She was a member of the Hallock Presbyterian Church and Presbyterian Women, South Hill Homemakers, Northcote Lakes Aid, Hallock Garden Club, hosptial auxiliary and neighborhood weekly coffee groups. She was very interested in sport and rarely missed a game of baseball when her sons were playing. She also has all her sons, grandsons and now great-grandsons participating in the Hallock Hockey Program and several great grandaughters involved with the Hallock Figure Skating Program.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1993, 10:30 a.m. at the Hallock Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Christman officiating and interment was held in Greenwood Cemetery at Hallock. Pallbearers were grandsons Charles; James; John, Jr.; Ronald; Lowell; and Bryan Younggren, Richard; Robert; David and Joel Lindegard and Michael Ferguson. Music was provided by a piano and organ duet by Lonnie Kriel and Janet Iverson, vocal duet by Karen Otterson and Jillayne Kraska with Gloria Swanson serving as organist. Arrangements were with Hughes Funeral Home, Hallock.
