The book, "Your Swedish Roots - A Step by Step Handbook" , by Kjell Andersson and Per Clemensson, two well-known Swedish genealogists. It is a modern genealogical guide written primarily for Swedish-Americans who want to research their family history using Swedish sources. The book is a joint publishing project between Genline AB in Sweden and MyFamily, Inc. in the United States. (It is written in English.)
In 220 pages, the book gives a basic orientation about the main Swedish sources. By using a typical case from around 1880, the reader is shown how the different sources can be interpreted. Examples are given from all of the main church records as well as other important sources. Column titles and important terms are translated from Swedish, and the different entries are explained in detail. This is especially helpful to researchers not well versed in the Swedish language and the older script commonly used.
Swedish records are unusually complete, due mainly to not having a war in nearly 200 years. The most commonly used records are now available online! The way to access them is detailed in the book.
