The book, "Ghost Towns and Locations of the Mesabi Iron Range" was written by Rod Halunen. I don't see any numbers on it, it was written as a thesis and reproduced in 1992. Basically, the author did a number of interviews with inhabitants of the towns to gather the info. There are great descriptions of the towns as they were in the early 1900's. The towns/locations involved are: Iron Junction, Carson Lake, Leonidas, Spina, Costin Village, Village of Franklin (Franklin, Commodore, Lincoln, Higgins, Minora, Shaw Locations) and a write-up on Inter Urban Electric Line. The book has a terrific bibliography that identifies personal histories that have been published by some of the inhabitants.
