Start your query with any specific information that you are seeking.

Are you looking for the parents, children, wife of a certain ancestor?

If so, START OFF with what you want to know:

Examples of the start of a genealogy query:

• Need parents (wife, husband, children, etc.)....
• What is the maiden name of....
• Any (birth, death, marriage, immigration, etc.) information regarding....
• Seeking (birth, death, marriage, immigration, etc.) information on....
• Wish to correspond with others researching....
• Are you researching....
• Desire help with....

When writing your query remember - Sending too much information is as bad as sending too little. Don't send your entire gedcom file. Don't write the entire history of your family. Just pick one aspect and deal with one thing at a time.

Separate information into paragraphs. Don't send on big blob of information and expect people to sift through it. The neater it is the more likely someone will read it (perhaps a long lost cousin).

Please remember to periodically update your query, adding any new information!

When sending your query please do not use fancy fonts, colored fonts, all caps, etc.
