"HOMELESS" SOLDIERS

from Wabasha County. I will list them here in hopes that someone else may be able to identify
them.
Another Soldier Found
3/22/2001
While looking in the Columbian Cemetery,
Portland, Oregon, I came across several GAR tombstones. One was for Thos R. Wisby, Co D 9
MINN INF. Would you see this gets on to the most appropriate data base. Some one may be
looking for Thos. If anyone wants more info I'll see what I can find. This is an old pioneer
cemetery and the records are not very good.
From the picture of your g-grandfather, who was a
drummer from Wisconsin, I have a g-g-uncle who also was a drummer, Wm Ohler from
Manitowoc, Wisconsin 9th, Co B. I have a picture of Wm in uniform at age 15 or 16. Wm
survived the war only to die in a river boat explosion only a few months later. I have also his
discharge paper, which is fading badly. The 9th fought mostly along the central Mississippi river
area such as Jenkins Ferry, Arkansas,
If your g-grandfather was in Dakotas, I think that
put him in the WIS 26th?
Thanks,
Jim Moeller, Beaverton OR
