Benjamin Anderson Opsal and Olava Carlsdatter Sandvik emigrated on May 4, 1880 from Bergen, Norway they were neighbors from Ørskog, More og Ramsdal, Norway. They arrived in the USA on or about May 28, 1880 they were both born in 1858.

Benjamin was born March 10, 1958 and died December 19, 1935 in Park Rapids, Hubbard County, Minnesota.

Olava was born January 5, 1958 and died February 18, 1928 in Park Rapids, Hubbard County, Minnesota.

They are shown on the 1886 Plat Map for Rosendale Township, Watonwan County living in Section 10. Benjamin and Olava had purchased 120 acres ( S half of NW quarter and NW half of N W quarter).

Benjamin and Olava had eight children.

Anton Opsal born Oct 21, 1880 in Watonwan County and died August 28, 1954 in Park Rapids, Hubbard County, Minnesota.

Ida Opsal born January 15, 1882 in Watonwan County and died April 18, 1890 also in Watonwan County, Minnesota.

Clara Opsal born May 27, 1887 in Watonwan County and died September 24, 1957 in Mille Lacs County, Minnesota.

Sophia Opsal born February 11, 1889 in Watonwan County died August 29, 1972 in Mankato, Blue Earth County, Minnesota.

Anna Opsal born December 19, 1981 in Watonwan County and died December 26, 1982 in Rochester, Olmstead County, Minnesota.

Ole Opsal born January 30, 1893 in Watonwan County and died May 26, 1933 in Saint Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota.

Emma Opsal born May 27, 1895 and died December 24, 1959 in Los Angles, Los Angles County, California.

Ida Opsal (Named for her sister that died) born October 12, 1902 in Jackson County, Minnesota and died June 22, 1965 in Duluth, Saint Louis County, Minnesota.
