Vernon, KY, inquiring about Augustin Sims from the War Dept.
dated Jul. 7, 1926.
Sir:
I have to advise you from the papers in the Revolutionary War
pension claim S. 32520, it appears that Augustin Sims was born
May 27, 1763, place not stated.
While residing in Henry Co., VA, he enlisted in 1781 and served
three months as private in Captain George Harston's Company,
Colonels Abraham Penn's and Tucker's Virginia Regiment,
and in Colonel Lee's Legion of Light Horse, and was in the
battles of Wrights Bluff, Friday's Fort, and Fort
Motte.
He enlisted in July 1781 and served three months as private in
Captain Hayman (Haman) Crite's Company, Colonel
Richardson's Virginia Regiment.
He was allowed pension on his application executed Mar. 3, 1834,
while a resident of Morgan Co., IL.
In 1843, he stated that he moved to Dade Co., MO, to be with his
children, no names stated.
In 1844, he was living in Jasper Co., MO; and in 1848 he moved to
Macoupin Co., IL, to be with his children, no names
given.
The above noted Augustin Sims is the only soldier of that name
found on the Revolutionary War records of this Bureau.
