His death certificate gives his place of death as Butterfield, but Russell's post has it in Exeter. His wife was listed as Mary C. Girtin on the certificate. He was born August 13, 1960, in Joplin, the son of Joe Howard and Eva (Stewart) Hemphill. He owned and operated a sanitation company and was a member of Central Christian Center in Joplin. Survivors include one brother, of Neosho; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Judy Hembree. Memorial services will be 4 p.m. tomorrow, April 1, at Central Christian Center Fellowship Hall in Joplin with Paul Bayless, pastor, officiating. Lipe, of this city, died at an early hour, Wednesday morning at the home of his grandson, Geo. Lipe, near McDowell, at the age of 92 years. He had lived for several years with W. H. Lipe in this city. The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon and interment was made in the Arnhart Cemetery. He had lived in Barry County since 1869, and has one son living, Joseph Lipe, who resides east of Purdy. Phyllis' Note: On the MO Archives web site his death certificate is indexed as Lype. He was widowed and a retired farmer and a son of John Lype, born NC, and mother's maiden name unknown. George Lype of Purdy, MO, was the informant.
