Research Note: "Unknown Confederate Soldier" The story, as told by Doyle Davis, is that after the Civil War had ended, a Confederate soldier was walking south through King's Prairie Township, not far from the cemetery, and a landowner chased him down and killed him. No one knew his name, but he was laid to rest at Bethel Baptist Cemetery. Years later, Doyle's uncle, Winford Davis and another man bought a simple stone and marked the final resting place of the soldier. |
