Julia was a grandaughter of John Kenelm Higgs b. 1792 in Granville Co., NC and Julia was very likely named after her aunt Julia Ann Higgs Brite of Pierce City a sister to Sarah Higgs Duncan. Research Note: He was a son of William and Bridget (Murphy) Brown, both born Old Pendleton District, SC. Married Rebeckah Poindexter Jones 19 Jun 1836 in St. Francois Co., MO. Murphy and his son Ezekiel were murdered by a Union sympathizer and neighbor while on their way to the blacksmith shop - wife and mother Rebeckah and her older children buried them in a common grave. Stone likely placed when she returned from Texas after the War. |

They had 15 children. Two infants died before they moved to Southwest Missouri. Two teenage daughters probably died in Texas during the Civil War. She was a widow two times, and her father was listed Anderson Phillips, her mother as Milly Phillips and her husband as John Phillips. Mrs. Jane Keeling, Cassville, MO, was the informant. Her cause of death was given as apparent coronary thrombosis. It probably means John Capps and not Phillips. |

Research Note: Wheaton Journal, Apr. 2, 1959 - Nancy Jane Chitwood, daughter of Van Y. and Susanah Chitwood, was born Aug. 30, 1869 in Barry County, Missouri and passed away Mar. 28, 1959 at the hospital in Cassville, Mo., at the age of 89 years, 6 months and 29 days. She is survived by two brothers Thomas Chitwood of Neosho, Mo., and George W. Chitwood of Pueblo, Colorado, a host of nephews and nieces and friends. One brother, Richard Chitwood preceded her in death. |

His father was listed as Blanchard Chitwood born in St. Louis County and his mother's maiden name was Epperson born in KY. It reads that he was born near Mt. Vernon, MO, and that his wife was Susannah Davis. Vascular heart disease was given as the cause of his death. |

Research Note: Temporary Marker - Research Note: She was an Exeter, MO resident and a daughter of Arthur E. and Rella (Langdon) Miller. On Nov. 12, 1988, she was united in marriage to Allen Duncan. She attended school at Altus, Ark., where she graduated from high school. She lived in Kansas City, several years and was employed with Handlemans, a warehouse distributor, from which she retired. In 1991, she moved to Exeter to make her home. |
