Concord in the Fall

Submitted by: Darla Marbut

The Concord Cumberland Presbyterian Church, organized in 1864, was located on these same grounds. The land for the church and cemetery was given by Elias Ferguson and Mr. and Mrs. Arch Herrell. The original church building was hand hewn logs. Timber on the site, was cut, hewn and put into place by the members of the church. Services were held at the Concord Presbyterian Church until about 1925. This church later burned.

Donations may be made to the Concord Cemetery Association, in care of the Security Bank of Southwest Missouri, 108 Front St., Exeter, Missouri 65647. The Concord Cemetery Association currently consists of Clayton Montgomery, Charles Warren, Jim Jones and Carolyn Charles. Any donations would be greatly appreciated.

Directions: Take CC Highway North out of Exeter, Mo, turn left (West) in about 1.7 miles on to Farm Road 2165. About 3.2 miles later Farm Road 1040 joins and runs with Farm Road 2165, go about 1/10 miles and FR 2165 turns South but continue on with FR 1040. In about 1/10 miles there is a dirt road on the right, turn there into the woods and go another 1/10 miles to the cemetery.
