MOTHER NATURE TAKES ANOTHER SWIPE AT AGED STONES

The February 2007 ice storm that dealt destruction county wide took its toll on the stones in the Corsicana Cemetery.  Trees that line the fencerows were split and splintered.  Falling limbs broke barbwire and bent posts.  Headstones near the fencerows were broken and knocked off the bases.

Ted Roller and Jack Fly have cleared limbs from around the headstones and surveyed the storm damage.  As soon as the remaining brush is cleared work will begin to restore the damaged stones.

Trees shown here have fallen across the Gentry family stones.

Ted Roller is shown here cutting tree limbs from the barbwire fence.

These limbs were near the Bettis family graves.

Jack Fly is shown cutting limbs from around the stone of his great great grandfather, John Alexander Shaw.   This stone was knocked over but not damaged.
