John R. and Aggie Wallen, were married, to whom were born ten children, eight of whom are living. They are Columbus C., of Philadelphia, PA., A. J., Jr., Jno. R., Jos. C, and Albert of Cassville, and Chas. Baker of Mineral Springs, Mrs. Lou Davis of Idaho, and Mrs. Bell Higgs of El Paso. In 1863, he enlisted in Co. E., 2nd Arkansas Calvary and served to the close of the war. He was corporal in his company. |

SSW: Sarah E. - Research Note: He was a son of Andrew Jackson & Agnes Jane (Wallen) Baker. Son of Andy J. Baker and Agnes Jane Wallen. Mr. Baker was a minister of the Baptist church. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Bertha Shore of Cassville, and two sons, Amos Baker who lives in Texas and Charley Baker of Cassville. He was married to Sarah Elizabeth King June 12, 1885. She passed away Feb. 6, 1929. To them four children were born, one daughter, Elsie, died in infancy. He was ordained to the Gospel Ministry Oct. 23, 1927. In addition to his children, grandchildren, and great grand-children, he is survived by three brothers, Cal of Miami, Okla.,; Judge A. E. Baker of Cassville, and Will Baker of Topeka, Kan., and one sister, Mrs. Lou Davis who lives in California. |

Inscription: "Dau of Evert & Mable" - Research Note: In 1999 this stone was transcribed incorrectly as Lois Laura. - Phyllis' Note: The death certificate reads that she was buried at Mineral Springs and that her mother was Mable Hays. She is buried in Horner Cemetery and online listing has her mother as Mable Benton (Owings) Baker and her father as Evert Baker. She was a daughter of Everett Baker and Mable Hays both born Barry Co., MO. Otis Baker of Mineral Springs, MO was the informant. Diptheria was the cause of death. Cassville Republican, Cassville, Thursday, September 16, 1915 The death angel visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. Everet Baker Saturday morning about 1 o'clock and claimed their infant daughter, Lois. Little Lois was about one year and a half old. Her death was due to membranous croup. The funeral service was conducted at Horner by Rev. Ireland and the little body laid to rest in the Horner Cemetery. |

Research Note: Dave Beck who lives south of Cassville, received word last week that his son, Elza Beck, had passed away on November 8th in a hospital in Newfoundland. Death was a result of burns from acid on October 16th. Eliza and his family were here last August for a visit with his father and other relatives. He had been in Newfoundland but a few weeks prior to his death. Word has come that Elza’s body left Newfoundland for New York where it is expected to arrive on the 18th. From New York it will be sent directly to Cassville and is expected to arrive the very last of the week. His wife and little son are accompanying the body. |

Research Note: This stone was posted with the April date as a death date. The following information reveals that it was a birth date. She was a daughter of William and Vada (Mansfield) Boulton. She was united in marriage to Ralph Potter who passed away. She later married Austin Brock on November 19, 1978. And Austin preceded her in death on April 28, 1997. Also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Keith Brock, a step-son; a brother and a sister. |

His death certificate is indexed as David Burress on the MO Archives Web Site, and is given with a death date of May 7, 1914, and reads he was buried at Oak Hill. He is listed at Horner with no picture of stone. Obit for Lucinda Burris, wife of D. A. Burris says she is buried at Horner. He was widowed and age about 79. Place of birth, parents names all marked "unable to get information". Informant was B. T. Irwin, Supt. Co. Farm, Cassville, MO. Date of burial was May 8, 1914. Cassville Republican, May 14, 1914, Thursday. Dave Burris, an inmate at the country farm, dropped dead Wednesday of last week, interment was made at the Horner Cemetery, Thursday. |
