She was a member of the Methodist Church. Her husband, Wesley Galyen, died Sept. 30, 1961. Mr. Galyen was born November 11, 1917, in Garfield, Arkansas, the son of Wesley Arthur and Bertha (Pippin) Galyen. He was a 1937 graduate of Cassville High School and a 1941 graduate of the University of Missouri. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army Air Force. He owned and operated a cheese plant in Mena, Arkansas, and was a commercial real estate broker in Van Buren, Arkansas. He was owner and operator of a motel in Gallatin, Tennessee, retiring in 1990. He was a son of Thomas N. and Lucy (Potts) Galyen. He had a brother named James who also had family buried in King. - Feb. 22, 1908, Cassville Democrat - Pleads Guilty to Common Assault: The case of State vs. Wesley Galyen, charge with assault wish intent to rape, came to a sudden termination the circuit court Tuesday morning and the defendant was allowed to plea guilty to common assault, and pay a fine of $50. and cost, and the case was ended. So far as we know all persons concerned in this case, are good citizens, and we are glad that good peacemakers have accomplished results in this case. Cassville Democrat, April 14, 1928 - Mrs. Gowen as about 75 years old and leaves two daughters and two sons to mourn her passing, who are; Mrs. Virgil Mcglothin of Seligman, Miss Maggie at home and two sons, James and Willis, both of that community. She also leaves a brother, Henry who lives in Texas. Mrs. Gowen was also distantly related to Mrs. Charles Ray, publisher of the Democrat. She was a daughter of the late Jas. Durham, an honorable citizen of this county. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Northcutt, Mrs. Charles Ray and sister, Mrs. W. E. SSW: W. B. - Inscription: "His Wife" - Research Note: Jennie Belle Harbin was a daughter of John G. and Nancy (Pallett) Harbin. - Cassville Democrat, March 7, 1908 - Mrs. Jennie B. Hammers died of pneumonia fever, at their home in Seligman, Missouri, after a brief illness of eight days. She was a daughter of the late John G. Harbin of near Washburn, and was the last one of the Harbin family of six children. She was born Aug. 29, 1865, and died Feb. 25th, 1908, at the age of 42 years, 5 months, and 27 days. She was married to W. B. Hammers, Dec. 25, 1887, and leaves eight children, four boys and four girls, the youngest an infant 25 days old. She was of kind and loving wife and mother, and had a host of friends through the county, who mourn her loss. We miss our mother and our home; we are oh, so lonesome. 1956 SSW: Jennie B. - Research Note: William Burl Hammers married Jennie Belle Harbin, daughter of John G. Nancy (Pallett) Harbin. His mother was Martha Amanda (Mitchell) (Hammers) Brummett. - Cassville Republican, Sept. 28, 1893 - W. Burl Hammers, while under the influence of liquor, last Tuesday, threw a glass tumbler at his wife, which, missing her, struck his child, about a year old, cutting its face quite badly. At first it was reported that the child could not live, but later it was learned the hurt was less serious. Dr. Porter of Seligman attended to the child's wound. Mr. Hammer was at once placed under arrest and gave bond for his appearance at the preliminary trial, which was set for Monday before Squire Brooks. Prosecuting Attorney Beasley of Cassville conducted the prosecution and J. S. Davis the defense. The defendant waived examination and was bound over to await the action of the grand jury. - Cassville Republican, Oct. 5, 1893 - Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Hammers of Washburn have been in attendance at court this week. We are pleased to learn that their baby is not near so badly hurt as was reported and the sobering up of Mr. Hammer has brought him to a realization of his duty and old rye is a thing of the past with him. Research Note: Wife of John B. Arnold (m: 1859) and John G. Harbin (m: 1872). - Mrs. Martha (Gowan) Harbin died suddenly at the home of her grandson, C. S. Arnold, 4 3/4 miles out on the Washburn road, Friday night, Feb. 14, 1913, of acute indigestion and heart failure, aged 77 years, 7 months and 28 days. She was born in Rutherford county, Tenn., Aug. 18, 1835, and was a daughter of the late Mr. Alfred P. and Mrs. Elizabeth Gowan, who came to Barry county, Oct. 10, 1856, and located near, Washburn, and in 1859. She and the late John B. Arnold were married and two children were born of this marriage, who are: J. A. Arnold, residing between Cassville and Exeter and Mrs. J. M. Mitchell of near Seligman. Mr. Arnold was killed near Washburn, Jan. 16, 1863. In 1872, she and the late John G. Harbin of near Washburn, were married and he died in 1881. Since that time, she has made her home a part of the time on her farm near the Vanzandt school house with her son, daughter and grandson. Her death certificate states that she died suddenly and that her parents were A. P. and Elizabeth (Lough) Gowen. - Another Photo Online Obit

Research Note: Passed away at the home of her nephew, Ralph Hendrix. Daughter of Leslie Lawrence and Amelia Francis (Loewen) Barnes. On November 1, 1943, in Seligman, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Willie Hendrix, who preceded her in death on August 9, 2010. Helen said being married sixty-seven years equals a good man. Also preceding her in death were her parents; and infant son at birth, Jody and a brother, Leslie Eugene Barnes. Helen received her education in West Plains and Seligman and was the queen of her sophomore class at Seligman. She and Willie shared a ministry. He was the pastor and she ministered in music. She grew up in the family home located on Greasy Creek, and attended Measle Prairie School and OK School. She and Buddy Ernest Hendrix were married on August 28, 1930, by Charles Vanzandt. Buddy preceded her in death on November 18, 1996. She and her family celebrated her 99th birthday on Monday, August 27th. Being with her family was the most important part of her life. She was a member of the Prairie Hill Baptist Church in Washburn, Missouri. Survivors include five sons, two daughters, 26 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sons, Thomas Clifton Hendrix, Kenneth Lavern Hendrix, and Robert Franklin Hendrix; two brothers, Reams Henry and John Henry; and one sister, Helen (Henry) (Hendrix) Houston. On November 1, 1943, in Seligman, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Helen Barnes and to this union was born a tiny son, Willie Joe "Jody" Hendrix, who went to be with the Lord at birth. Willie was the last one to survive this large family; sisters, Jewell, Flossie and Hattie and his brothers, Ray, Vaudie, Olin, Osa, Harold, Buddie, Don, Virgil, Elmer and JD. Half brothers, Roy and Thomas Earl, half sisters, Lula, Dollie, and Lucy Belle. Willie was an ordained Southern Baptist Minister, now retired because of his health. He always liked for people to call him Brother Willie. Willie and his wife ministered together in preaching and singing gospel songs, also for many weddings and funerals. Research Note: Given name was Benona. Age 26 Years, Wife of Joe Henry. Daughter of William Burgan and Nancy (MCCARY) Pallett. Joe was the son of Robert Lafayette Henry and Fannie Edens. He second married Eva Lena Folger in West VA, both died in Pryor, Mayes Co., OK. Probably buried there. - Scrapbook bought at the estate sale of Vivian Roller by Ted Roller - Mrs. Nona Henry wife of Joe Henry of this section, died Aug. 23, 1922, with something like apoplexy, aged 26 years. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Pallett of near Cassville on the McCary farm, and was a member of the Rock Springs Baptist Church and had been for several years and was a good woman.
