Jim's Note: Sarah Belle Boswell was the daughter of John Boswell and Lodema Adeline Colclasure. According to the 1870 US Census the family lived in Crane Creek Twp., Barry Co., MO. Belle was 6 years old and her birth place was given as AR. She married James Bowie Springer (1860-1942) on Sep. 21, 1887 in Aurora, Lawrence Co., MO. James Bowie Springer was the son of the Rev. James Dobbins Springer and Tersa Ann Inman. The Rev. James D. Springer was a Cumberland Presbyterian minister in Lawrence and Stone counties from his ordination in 1877 until his death in 1906. James Bowie Springer and Sarah Belle Boswell were parents of one daughter, Lucille Lodema Springer (1892-1988). She was reared by her grandparents, John and Lodema Boswell. (See US Census 1900 & 1910, Barry Co, MO). She married William John Thomas on Feb. 14, 1914 in Barry Co., MO. After Belle's death James Bowie Springer married Minnie M. Wasson on Oct. 30, 1902 in Polk Co., MO. They moved to Long Beach, CA prior to 1910 where he died in 1942 and Minnie died in 1965. Her mother was Rilla Emelene Wheeler, born in Scholten, Barry Co., MO, also buried in Maplepark. The cause of death was lagrip, from parents statement, though as their house was not warm, it may have taken a severe cold. Kathy Suttles' database at rootsweb has that Thomas C. Suttles donated the land at Leann Cemetery, Leann, Barry Co, MO. His father Strother was the first person buried there. Several of Thomas children are also buried there. |
