SSW: Earl Russ - Research Note: She was the oldest child of John B. and Hallie (Yates) Stanton. She was united in marriage to Russ Campbell on November 28, 1938. He preceded her in death in 1991. Taught school at Richland, MO. After marriage, she and Russ moved to California where she completed her Bachelor's degree in Education and taught school for 20 years and also in Wisconsin. In 1969, they moved to Cassville where Nelle taught briefly in the Cassville school system. She became active in community organizations serving as Chairman of the local Red Cross Chapter Bloodmobile program. She also served as President of the Cassville Women's Golf Association. |

Research Note: He was a resident of Leavenworth, KS. He was a son of Jesse and Bertha Viola (Cooper) Chappell, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were a brother, Loy Gene Chappell and a nephew, Brian Chappell. Jesse grew up and graduated from high school in Cassville. Much of his life was spent in Kansas. He lived in Leavenworth over forty years and worked as a fireman for the Ft. Leavenworth Fire Department. Prior to that he worked at Sunflower Ammunitions Depot. Jesse served his country in the United States Army in Korea, where he received a Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Stars, a Combat Infantry Badge and a United Nations Service Medal. He worked with the Coast Guard as a Merchant Seaman and with the Boeing Company as a riveter. |

He received his education at Washburn and was a 1933 graduate of Washburn High School. In 1941 he moved to Kansas City and worked for Manor Bakery. He resided in California a few years and worked for Archway Cookies there. He then moved back to Kansas City and established his own candy re-packing business, known as Kandi-Pack. After selling Kandi-Pack in 1975, he began working for Dodson Insurance, retiring in 1980 as manager of office supplies and later moved to Cassville to make his home. |
