Research Note: Dau. of Joe Walter and Maude (McMahan) Northcutt, In 1939, Dr. Mary, as she was called by her patients and almost everyone else in the area, moved to Cassville to share a medical practice with Dr. George Newman at the Barry Co., Clinic and Hospital. The following year, Dr. Newman and Dr. Mary Jane Northcutt were married. Dr. George Newman died in 1949 and the hospital closed a year later. Dr. Mary then opened her own offices and served on the staff of the Community Hospital in Cassville and later at St. Vincent's Hospital in Monett. Dr. Mary loved the practice of medicine and especially delivering babies. She delivered hundreds of babies in her 47-year career, including one set of triplets. She was proud of the fact that she never lost a mother. - Another Photo
