SSW: Frank G., Opal & Yreka - Research Note: He was the son of Frank Gilmore Wiley and Mary Susan "Yreka" Lee. Mary Susan Lee was the daughter of John Austin Lee and Elizabeth Rhinehart (widow Bruton). John Austin Lee's parents were Samuel Lee and Mary Hackney, who migrated from Blount County, Tennessee to Polk County, Missouri in 1840 and later settled in north Greene County in the Ebenezer - Robberson Prairie area. Their families were among the original members of the Friends community of Newbury monthly meeting, later called Friendsville. "Yreka" Lee was my grandmother's first cousin. I don't know where she got the nickname "Yreka" but I have several original family letters from the 1870's & 1880's where she is mentioned by her nickname. Frank and Yreka Wiley had 9 children, 8 of whom died from pulmonary tuberculosis as young adults, and Frank did as well. After Frank's death Yreka married William S. Ledbetter. |
