The log book for this cemetery by the city of Monett reads that they do not have anyone named Alice given, but do have listed Elise Gerhard-Von Gunten who died in 1947. She is without a stone and is buried in the old section, in block 25, in lot 1, in grave 7, in the SW 1/4. Also buried there nearby with the same surname are Elizabeth, Frederig and J. Alfred. The city log book has her maiden name as Von Gunten. Her death certificate reads she was buried in IOOF. Her parents are listed on the V page under Von Gunten. The cemetery log book has them listed under Gerhard which is in error. In fact, they are probably not even buried in this cemetery and are in Oakdale but they are logged for IOOF. NO STONE |

GERHARD, Alfred Jay |
May 7, 1894 Monett, MO |
Aug. 28, 1914 Monett, Barry Co., MO |
Research Note: The city of Monett has him logged in the old section in block 25, in lot 1, in grave 7 as J. Alfred Gerhard. His death certificate has that his name was Alfred Jay Gearhart and not Gerhard as the Callaway Funeral home records and the city log book has it. His father was William W. Gearhart, born Germany and Alice Gearhart born Spitz, Switzerland. Alice Gearhart, Monett, MO, was the informant. Callaway Funeral Home records state this person was buried in Oakdale Cemetery and not IOOF as the city log book has him listed. Also the funeral records state his name was Gerhard and not Gerhard-Von Gunten as the city has him listed. His mother was Alice Gerhard. The cause of death was typhoid fever. He was age 20 years, 3 mos. and 21 days at the time of his death. He was single and the funeral was held in the Presbyterian Church in Monett. His occupation was express service. His death certificate has he was buried in Westbay Cemetery. Since the city log book has him buried in IOOF he was added to these pages. NO STONE |
