Inscription: "Son of Noah & Rosey L. Adams" - Research Note: John William Willie Adams was born May 2, 1890 at Eagle Rock, Barry Co., MO, the son of Noah Adams and his wife Rosa Leuna Kelley. Rosa was a daughter of Dr. Christopher Greenup Kelley and his wife Cordelia Howard Kelley. Willie's brothers and sisters were Minnie Cordelia, Christopher Everett, Ora Sylvester, Lora Delilah, Truda Mae and Benjamin Franklin Adams. Most of them are buried in the New Salem Cemetery, Neosho, Newton, Missouri. After Dr. Kelley left Eagle Rock he moved to or near Neosho, Newton Co., MO. |

They were living in the Roaring River Township in 1900. Andy Bouyer passed away March 14, 1933 at the age of 92 years old. He leaves to mourn his departure: four daughters, Mrs. Vica Head of Oklahoma, Mrs. Messie Martin of Aurora, Mo., Grace Bouyer, and Mrs. Mary Sharpe. The stone has Oct 1834, and the census has Mar 1829 - Eagle Rock News: Mrs. Andy Bouyer of near this place was fearfully burned Wednesday. She was ironing before the fire place when her dress caught fire and she ran out in the yard. Mr. Bouyer was at the barn looking after his sock. He ran to her, stripped her of her clothing and in doing so badly burned his hands. His whiskers and hair were badly singed. Mrs. Bouyer died that night age 65 years. Clay Dean and Sarah's children: John, Alva "Dutch", Lulu "Louie", Anna, Maggie Mae, Everett, Eula Pearl, and Angie. - Obit reads: Dean Burress of near Eagle Rock dropped dead at his home last Monday night as he was preparing himself for bed. He was feeling about as usual according to reports and was said to have been stricken as he had started walking from a chair in which he had been sitting to his bed. Death was due to heart failure. He is an old timer of that section and had engaged in farming. He was said to have been about 65 years old and leave some relatives to mourn his passing. Research Note: Eagle Rock News: Thursday, Ara, son of Bill Burris, left home to go to Marion Goodings to see about getting a cane mill to make molasses. On his way there, or back, he got hurt and was found late in the evening by Jake Burris. The boy was almost lifeless and could not tell how he was hurt but died a few moments later, after his father and mother were summoned. Investigation proved that he had climbed a hickory tree and a limb had broken with him letting him fall a distance of about 40 feet striking on a solid rock. He was interred Friday evening at the Munsey Cemetery. Thursday, Sep. 28, 1899, Cassville Republican - Darla's Note: Ara who died from the fall from a tree is probably Harvey Burris, son of William "Bill" Henry Burris and his wife Deborah Jane Garner Burris. From the Roaring River Baptist Church Records: The church called for the ordination of James Allen "Jim" Carter to be a minister. Those assisting with the service was Elders, E. Chappell, J. A. Swiger, and M. Smith. Pastor of the church was Rev. Ed Smallwood and the clerk was Ransom Haddock. Rev. Jim Carter walked to all the churches were he preached, even into Arkansas. He could quote chapters of the Bible by memory. Herman and Robert Carter must have been Rev. Jim's grandchildren. Robert and Herman were the grand children of Jim and Artie Carter. Clay, died at this home Wednesday, Aug. 28, of typhoid fever after an illness of over a month. The funeral services were held at Munsey school house Aug. 23 conducted by Rev. Vanover and interment made in the Munsey cemetery. A large crowd attended the funeral which was a testimonial of the high esteem in which he was held by hosts of friends and neighbors among whom he had lived most of his life. He professed faith in Christ a few days before his death. He leaves to love and cherish his memory a father, mother and a hosts of relatives and friends. We the people of Munsey extend our heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved ones. |

Inscription: "Husband of Emily Francis Cornell" - Research Note: William A. Cornell married Emily Frances Munsey. His Obituary reads: Cassville Democrat March 8, 1934. Wm. A. Cornell, who died at his home near Eagle Rock, Friday night, was 81 years old was also one of the county’s old time and honorable citizens. He had suffered from heart trouble several months and was a patient suffered. He leaves four children to mourn his passing, who are: Clark of Eagle Rock, Troy and Roy of Seligman, and a daughter, Flossie, who lives in Oklahoma. All of the children attended him, during his closing days. His excellent wife preceded him in death 28 years ago. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. George Haddock at the Muncey church, Sunday afternoon, after which interment was made in the cemetery there under direction of the Koon Funeral Service. The Hopkins family furnished music at the services. This splendid character had lived in that section many years and had many friends. A large number attended the services. William's Death Certificate indicates his father was Charles Cornell. Clark Cornell was the informant. It has his birth year as 1852. |

Curry was born in Newton County, MO, Dec 22, 1837. Died July 6th, 1907, aged 69 years, 6 months, and 13 days. His father married the widow Brown and moved to Barry County when Frank was seven years old, settling on the old Curry farm on White River, where Frank grew to manhood and has been a resident of Barry County, continuously since, and a resident of Roaring River township except two years from 73 to 77 when he resided on Amos Horner's farm near Cassville. He enlisted Sept 15, 1863, in Co. E, 2nd, Regiment Arkansas Cavalry Volunteers. Was discharged on account of disability, May 30, 1865, returned to the old home devastated by the ravages of war, with his step-mother and three half-brothers; his father, two own brothers and one sister died during the war. He married Martha Horner, Jan 19, 1870, to whom, was born five children, Wm, living in Idaho, Charles near Eagle Rock, Albert and Robert in Nebraska and Mary wife of Geo. Skelton of Eagle Rock. His wife died Jan 19, 1882 and he was married to Martha Skelton November 9, 1883 to whom was born two children, Josephine, wife of Finis Easley and Christopher who died Nov 6, 1887. He had one half brother who went west in '85 and has never been heard of; no ones knows whether he is dead or alive. |

She was born July 26, 1922, in Barry County, Missouri, the daughter of Thomas and Viola (McNabb) Burnette. On July 1, 1939, in Cassville, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Davis, who preceded her in death on May 2, 2004. Also preceding her in death were her parents; four brothers, Gene, Gaylord, Verle and Brice Burnette and one sister, Maxine Blythe. Lorene, as most people knew her, received her education at Washburn. Soon after their marriage, she and Lawrence moved to California, remaining there thirty-seven years. In 1975 they returned to Missouri and resided in Eagle Rock until 1994. They moved to Kansas and in 2009 Lorene returned to Eagle Rock to make her home. She attended Roaring River Baptist Church at Eagle Rock. Her favorite pastime was sewing and she especially enjoyed her dog, Bucky and cat, Rachael. |

He was united in marriage to Laura Wallen on December 25, 1898. Mrs. Davis preceded him in death on September 22, 1916. To this union six children were born. One son, Floyd Edward Davis, preceded him in death on September 22, 1902. Surviving are three daughters and two sons, Mrs. Florence Turner of Cassville, Mrs. Isabelle Dille, of Portland, Oregon, and Mrs. Alice Roark of Ulysses, Kansas; Archie N. Davis, Atchison, Kansas, and Lawrence Davis of Richmond, Calif; 16 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Many other relatives and friends mourn his passing. Rev. Charles Vanzandt and Rev. Clifford Bright officiated at his funeral. |

Research Note: Eagle Rock News: Died Sunday morning at the Dr. C. C. Kelley's at eight o'clock, Mrs. Dumas wife of J. J. Dumas of Ossams, I. T. of an abscess of lungs.
She was a sister of Mrs. Kelley, Internment Tuesday at the Munsey graveyard. Sep. 21, 1899, Thursday, Cassville Republican - State Historical Society of MO - Darla's Note: Dr. Kelley's wife at this time was Violet Elvia Weaver so Martha would have been her sister. They were the children of John W. Weaver and Violet Eliza (Pringle) Weaver. John W. Weaver's obituary: John W. Weaver Dead: Uncle John Weaver died Monday night, Sept 23, 1907, after a long and painful illness, stretching and painful illness through many years. Ever since he came out of the army he has been practically an invalid. No one who saw him shaking with palsy, will forget the old gentle man, and how patiently and cheerfully he bore it all. His intelligence in matters in general and in religion in particular made him an interesting man to talk to and be with. He reached the advanced age of 72 years, six months and fourteen days, was a soldier and drew a large pension. Mrs. Burkhart of Joplin, and Mrs. Jack Smith, daughters, with his wife, were at the funeral, yesterday, at his late residence. Eld. Prewitt officiating. A couple of Mormon Elders were also present, the friends of Mrs. Weaver, who also assisted in the services. The interment was in Maple Park. Old comrades of the Grand Army acted as pall bearers - Aurora Argus. Mr. Weaver was a resident of this city several years ago and moved from this place to Aurora where he has since resided. Dummet were in Franklin Twp., O'Brien Co., IA . He was born circa 1799 PA. In 1870 they are listed as H. J. & Christina Dummit, living in Big Grove, Benton Co., IA, with children, Agnes, Catherine & Mary. In 1860, Big Grove, Benton Co., IA, has Henry & Christiana Dummit, age 45, with Wensel, William H., Clarissa, Casandra B., Agnes, Kate A., and Mary and a Michel Conley, age 13 In 1850 Henry J. & Christena Dummett in Snowden, Allegheny Co., PA with Wensel, Ann E. William H. "Susannah," Clarissa, and Christena Ann. Joshua and Susanna (Dummett) Davis are buried in Oak Hill, Cassville, Missouri. |

Research Note: Son of Frank and Beulah Dowden Edwards, married Haupt Mayo on June 21, 1977, and she preceded him in death in 1998. - Darla's Note - Obit: Charles Dowden "Chuck" Edwards, 76, of Greenfield, formerly of Eagle Rock, died May 15 at St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield. Mr. Edwards was born January 2, 1925, in Kiefer, Oklahoma, the son of Frank and Beulah (Dowden) Edwards. He was a graduate of Stillwater High School in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and attended Oklahoma State University. He had worked in sales and sales management and purchased Eagle Rock Landing in 1975. He retired in 1994. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was active in the Springfield Chess Club. He married Haupt Mayo on June 21, 1977, and she preceded him in death in 1998. Survivors include one brother, Oklahoma; two sisters, Idaho and of Oklahoma; two step-sons, of Eagle Rock and of Springfield; two step-daughters, of Cassville, MO and of Alabama; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, John Edwards; and two step-sons, Paul Mayo and Charles Mayo. Graveside services were 11 a.m. today, May 18, at Munsey Cemetery in Eagle Rock with Rev. John Duncan officiating under the direction of Williamson Funeral Home of Cassville. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Lives Under Construction Boys Ranch.
