Abernathy - Dead: Marcus L. Abernathy, an old resident of Barry County and for many years an influential public official, quietly passed into the sleep which knows no waking at the home of his daughter, Mr. J. B. Hessee, near Cassville at 4:00 pm on the morning of Saturday, May 30, 1914, of kidney trouble, resulting in uremia poisoning and general complication of diseases. Phyllis' Note: He was a son of John Y. and Matilda (Alexander) Abernathy, both born NC. S. L. Mitchell was the informant. Cause of death was Uremia Poisoning and old age. Louisa and her parents were not born in Knox Co., TN as the death certificate indicates; they were born in Wilson County, TN near Lebanon, TN. Louisa first married C. B. Martin. Second husband was W. A. Anderson. Mrs. C. P. Murphy is Louisa's daughter Ada who married Oliver Perry Murphy. Obit reads: December 25, 1913, Thursday, Cassville Republican - Another Mother Passes Away: Mrs. Lou Anderson, wife of W. A. Anderson, of the Oak Ridge locality, died Friday morning, December 19, of paralysis. Mrs. Anderson had been enjoying the blessings of health until Wednesday of last week when she was stricken with a stroke of paralysis. On Tuesday of last week she visited her daughter, Mrs. C. P. Murphy, north of town and seemed to be in the best of health. Her illness was unexpected by relatives and friends and from the beginning she was unconscious of her aliment until death. Mrs. Anderson was about 70 years of age and was born in Tennessee. About the age of sixteen years she in company with her parents, went to Texas and resided until the year 1893 when she became a citizen of this state. Besides her last husband, Mr. Anderson, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. O. P. Murphy, three other children, having proceeded her to the grave. She had lived in the vicitny of Cassville for a number of years and was an excellent citizen, a loving wife and mother. Her body was laid to rest in the Oak Hill Cemetery Saturday at 11 a.m. after short funeral services conducted at the grave by Rev. J. W. Research Note: Steve Anderson Dead - Steve Anderson, 21 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Anderson of this city, died Thursday morning, December 18, of pneumonia following an attack of influenza. The funeral was held Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Ed Chappell and his body laid to rest in Oak Hill cemetery. Only about ten days before the body of his four year old sister was laid to rest on the same lot. Steve was at the time he took sick, engineer on the C. & W. He was a quiet, unassuming young man, industrious, and liked by all of his acquaintances. A few years ago his health became very poor but he had apparently become much stronger but not able to stand a severe attack of pneumonia. He was a member of the M. W. A.
