Research Note: In the cemetery book done by Joan Kunkel of 1982 G. M. Brixey has a death date of 1927. His death certificate reads that he died in 1926. It names his father as Thomas Brixey. He was listed as a farmer. He married Elizabeth Montgomery, Jan 10, 1884 in Barry Co., MO. She was a daughter of Hugh S. and Elizabeth (Lowery) Montgomery. General's father died in 1862, named Thomas. His mother was Celica Jane Walker.Celica married Thomas VanZandt in April 3, 1868. Thomas Brixey was taken prisoner at Roaring River, was shot and killed by Federals in 1862 and his body was left by the road according to the Cassville Democrat, April 13, 1907. Research Note: He was a son of the late W. T. and Mrs. Mary Townsend Burton. About fourteen years ago he was married to a Miss Brattin of Exeter and to them two sons, Billie and Carl, were born. In addition to the two sons and his mother he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Stella Tiddings who lives in Oklahoma and one brother Cliff Burton, of near Cassville. He carried a policy in the W. O. She was a sister of Mrs. G. W. Renz and of Miss America Porter, south of Cassville, excellent citizens who have moved to this county during the past few years. Their many friends extend sympathy in their bereavement. Interment was made in Oak Hill Cemetery.
