Old age and heart disease were the cause of death. The death certificate gives age abt. 73 which would make him born abt 1839. According to the following census, he would be about age 61 at his death. Oak Hill Cemetery has Emma H. She married Charles Powell in 1988 and he passed away in 1995. She attended Vocational Technical School in Springfield, Missouri and received her LPN in 1969. She was employed at Springfield Baptist Hospital for two years. From 1969 until 1977 she was a school nurse at the School of the Ozarks, Point Lookout, Missouri. Obit: Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon for Mrs. Lovina White, 93 years old, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jess Preddy in Cassville Sunday morning. Mrs. White came with her parents Mr. and Mrs. John Robbins, to Barry Co. in 1868 and the family settled in the Pasley community. Mr. Robbins was a miller by trade and for many years operated a mill at the old Milwaukee store site in that community. Mrs. White was a sister of the late Benton Robbins, prominent Cassville businessman. Her husband, Joseph White, died in 1936. Russel Rayl Windes, Jr. Ph.D. (1926 -- 2011) was born in Durant, Okla., the son of Russel Rayl Windes, Sr. and Bess Carter Windes. As an infant he moved with his family to Cassville. He attended schools in Cassville, Neosho, Monett and Rogers, Ark. He continued his education at Drury College and took time off to teach at Granby High School before his graduation. He earned a master's degree in history from Kansas State University and began teaching in 1953 at Hutchinson (Kan.) High School. As debate coach, he won many tournaments and placed second in state. Recognizing his talent for coaching, the School of Speech, Northwestern University, Chicago, Ill., called him to be director of debate. He received his doctorate and did his post-doctorate at Harvard University and then taught at San Francisco State College and Queens College, City University of New York. He published three textbooks, 25 articles in major journals, edited over 50 books and completed his publishing career which began in 1956 with a major article in 2007. SSW: Maude - Inscription: "Married Aug. 2, 1939" - Research Note: Son of Edward and Myrtle Maude (Doan) Woods. On Aug. 2, 1939 he was united in marriage to Maude Laney. Survived by his wife and three daughters. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Daniel and John; a sister, Nancy and his twin sister, Jane; one son-in-law, Gary Long and one grandson, Billy Long. James joined the CCC’s and helped establish Roaring River State Park. He was in the United States Navy during World War II, serving from January 24, 1944 until December 8, 1945. Research Note: Cassville Democrat, May 30,1925 - Eliza Angeline Woody passed away very suddenly at her home in Cassville, Friday, May 22, 1925, at the age of 77 years, 7 months and 19 days. She had been in failing health for some time but was unable to be up and around previous to the morning of her sudden passing. She was born in Monroe county, Tenn. October 3, 1847, and moved to Arkansas in 1856. A short time after moving to Arkansas, she was married to A.N. Woody and they moved to Cassville in 1866. She was the mother of Mrs. George Kring of near Cassville and Mrs. Perry Maddox of the state of Idaho, who mourn her passing. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Dan Dockey of near Carthage, Mo., and Mrs. Chas. Grubbs, of Tribby, Okla. Mrs. Woody was a consistent member of the Presbyterian Church and had been for many years. She was an excellent woman and leaves many friends who mourn her untimely passing. Impressive funeral services were conducted at the Presbyterian church in this city, by Rev. L. E. Mitchell, Saturday, May 23, 1925, after which her remains were interred in Oak Hill cemetery. - Missouri Death Cert. # 14213-a, Name Eliza A. Woody. Birth Oct 3, 1847, Monroe Co., TN. Research Note: Cassville Republican, Thursday, Cassville, MO, Mar. 16, 1893 - Died, of pneumonia fever at the Harbert Hotel in Cassville on Tuesday morning, 14th inst., E. M. Wright. He came to Cassville about two weeks ago and took lodging at the above hotel and was taken sick in a few days. He has a daughter in Chicago, Ill., by the name of Mrs. Parsons. He has an abundant family we understand in Jasper Co., MO. There was no money found on his person. He was buried in the Cassville Cemetery by the county. R. C. Kemper of this place assumes the board and doctor's bill. Should any of his friends see this notice and desire any further information relative to Mr. Wright, if they will correspond with R. C.
