Old Easley Cemetery This is one of the oldest cemeteries in Barry Co., MO and was first known as the Hickam Cemetery, then Easley, and finally as Old Easley. Directions: At Golden, MO turn North on J Highway, then turn left on Farm Road 2260 go about half mile until Farm Road 1215 that turns left again. In about 1/10 of mile, look to the left across a pasture where the tree in the picture here can be seen on top of the hill. There is no road or gate and the only way to get to it is to go under a wire fence. The cemetery is not fenced now and is part of a large field. |

Descendant Darla Marbut added this: According to Virginia DeMarce who is a long time Easley researcher, Jacob Hickam and his family, moved back to Cole Co., MO where he is buried. It was probably named Hickam Prairie because he settled there. Here are Darla's notes: Because Martha Hickam was born 1850 in Cole Co., MO, it is possible that Jacob did died in Cole Co instead of Barry Co., MO. Virginia DeMarce on page 197:
Jacob died 1854 in Cole Co., MO. of a cholera epidemic on a boat from St. Louis, MO to Marion, Cole Co., MO. |
