Research Note: His death certificate reads that Hattie Flaherty was his wife's name. His mother's maiden name was Hammett and a widowed farmer. The cause of his death was listed acute nephritis. On July 19, 1891 in Barry Co., MO, he married Hattie M. Ward. She was 19 and he was age 30. George W. Henry, MB of Mineral Springs married them and they both gave their addresses as Cassville. |

Research Note: According to the Quaker Church records, Millicent Nixon, married Simon Jones, Back Creek Monthly Meeting, North Carolina, May 20, 1832, which was in Randolph Co., NC. On the 1880 Mortality Schedule next to Simon was Millicnet [sic] Jones 67 years old, also listed as married. She died gastritis fever and was ill for ten days. She was listed as keeping house, married, and was born in NC both her parents were born in NC. Listed near their entries were several other deaths that were listed as death was caused from spinal fever and some were given as spinal meningitis. |

Research Note: On the 1880 Mortality Schedule, was Simon Jones' name. Listed as died of brain fever that he'd contracted while in Kansas. He was ill for ten days, listed as a farmer and born in NC and both of his parents listed born in NC. He was listed as married and as 68 years old. Simon Jones filed a quit-claim deed to "The Public for two acres of ground located where the Quaker Cemetery is. The property deeded over on Aug 27, 1879 was to be set apart for a "Friends Meeting House and burying grounds." |

The remains were laid to rest in the Quaker cemetery, Tuesday. He was born in New York, and came to Barry County twenty-five or thirty years ago.
