He was a retired farmer, mechanic supervisor for Spartan School of Aeromechanics Training Base for British Cadets in Miami, OK, and chairman of the L. C. M. S. Southwest Mission Zone. He was a member of the Barry County Sheriff's Posse and United States Department of Agriculture Farmers Home Administration in Barry County. He was a 4-H leader, an honorary member of the Missouri Future Farmers of America, and a Barry County Republican committeeman. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church at Stones Prairie. He was a 1935 Monett High School graduate. He married Viola Storck on Oct. 18, 1942, in Purdy, MO. Source: Monett Times

SSW: Carl M. - Research Note: She was a daughter of George and Talina Storck. Viola Storck married Carl M. Thomas on October 18, 1942. They made their home together on a Century Farm on Stones Prairie. He preceded her in death March 4, 2002. She retired in 1988 after teaching math for 33 years in the Purdy and Monett School Systems. She was also preceded in death by an older brother Herbert Storck and an older sister Erma (Storck) Farmer.

Stone translation: " Here rests in God - Leona - wife of Walter Wood - nee Myers Born 21 May 1894 - Deceased 7 Mar. 1916 - I will see you again and your heart will rejoice" - Note from her nephew, Don Meyer, reads that she was a daughter of Rev. A. C. Meyer born in Australia and his wife Ellna Beise born in Minnesota.
