and numerous nieces and nephews.

He grew up and received his education at Wheaton,

1939. Over the years he farmed, rode horses and loved
watching and supporting all sports at the schools.

Southwest R-V. She was a member of Missouri State Teachers
Association, Missouri Retired Teachers Association,
Laubach Literacy Council; Horticulture Club,
VFW Auxiliary, the coordinator for St. Jude Bike-A-Thon
for sixteen years, and secretary-treasurer of Roller

graduating from Purdy High School in 1943, Bob was
inducted into the Army. He was a veteran of World War II
and saw action in the Philippines. He was wounded during
the retaking of Corregidor, receiving the Purple Heart
and Bronze Star. His wife was Leota Thompson. To this
union five children were born. Bob worked for 13 years as
the Bookmobile Driver/Clerk for the Barry County Library
and was still recognized late in life by the former
students of many small rural schools as “Bob the
Bookmobile Man.” He was then employed at U.S. Shoes for

member of the Teamsters Union and employed by Jones
Trucking in Kansas City for 34 years prior to retiring and
moving to Cassville in 1986. He married Marjorie L.
Bradford in Kansas City, MO. He was preceded in death by

States Army and was a pilot in the Vietnam War. Throughout

for Rayma Pearl Jones, who passed at on Sept. 27, 2011,

sweetheart, on Feb. 2, 1948. She preceded him in death in
2007. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two
older sisters, and one younger brother. He and Lilas
migrated west in 1948, eventually settling in Prineville,
OR, where he worked in the lumber business for 45 years,
eventually retiring as the Sales Manager of Consolidated
Pine in 1993. After 58 years in Central Oregon, he and
Lilas returned to their childhood home in Cassville in

School District. She was a member of the First United
Methodist Church, Lydia Circle and U.M.W. and served as a
volunteer for Loaves and Fishes for many years. She was
also a member of Barry County Retired Teachers and Delta
Kappa Gamma, and a life-time member of the National Retired
Teacher’s Association. She was preceded in death by two
sisters, Audrey Millikan and her husband Clark and Dorothy
Anderson and her husband Howard; and one brother, Kenneth

daughter of William Franklin (Jack) and Ella
Mae (Stark) Stewart, who preceded her in death. She was
also preceded in death by three brothers, George, Bernard
and Jack, Jr.; one sister, Gwendolyn Myers; her dearest
friend, Marilyn Hunt. Bonnie graduated from Wheaton High
School and continued her education at St. John’s Nursing
School in Joplin, Missouri, where she became a registered
nurse. On December 11, 1951, Bonnie joined the United
States Air Force and served during both the Korean War and
Viet Nam War. Throughout her service career, she received
several medals, badges and commendations which included a
Bronze Star. After serving over twenty years, she retired
as a Lt. Colonel on January 31, 1972, at Biloxi,
Mississippi. She moved to Ocean Springs, Mississippi,
following her retirement. In 2007, she moved to the

Madison. On October 16, 1937, in Oak Ridge, Missouri, she
was united in marriage to William Uel “Pete” Redding,
who
preceded her in death on February 25, 2002. Also
preceding her in death were her parents; one sister,
Pearl Seago and three brothers, Elzie, Kenneth and
Leslie Madison. “Dot” as many called her attended
Longfellow School in Coffeyville, Kansas. The depression
began and the factories were only open one or two days a
week so a person couldn’t make a living that way.
Dorothea’s parents owned some land near Hailey, Missouri,
so when she was fifteen they moved there and farmed,
raising cattle and chickens to sell cream and eggs.
Dot’s hobbies were cooking, knitting and crocheting,

Jagger and to this union three sons were born. Raymond
preceded her in death on October 11, 1962. On January 29,
1966, she married James Albert Henbest and to this union
one son was born. James passed away September 9, 2008.
Also preceding her in death were her parents and two
brothers, Richard Ward and Lloyd Austin Ward. Nancy grew
up and received her education in Springfield, Colorado,
where she graduated from high school. She was a
dispatcher for the sheriff’s office in Springfield and
later became an Avon representative. Throughout her career
she received many awards from Avon. Over forty years ago
she moved from Springfield to Cassville to make her home.

High School in Kansas City, Kansas and continued his
education at Kansas City, Kansas Junior College. He served
during World War II in the United States Navy from August

in April, 1947, by joining the United States Army.
Following his honorable discharge from the Army, he
worked for the Kansas City Fire Department in Kansas
City, Kansas for twenty-two years retiring as a Captain.

Barry County. At the age of 14 he began his lifelong work
as a carpenter. In 1941 before the bombing of Pearl Harbor,
Noel enlisted in the United States Navy. He was stationed
on the USS Texas serving in WWII. After being honorably
discharged in 1945, he returned to Cassville continuing
his career in carpentry building many homes in the
Cassville and Table Rock area. On September 25, 1951 in
Rogers, Arkansas, Noel was united in marriage to Mamie

marriage to Connie Sue Buntin and remained married for
fifty-two years. To this union two children were born.
Preceding him in death were his father, Paul McCullough;
his mother, Maudie Kincaide; one son, Robert McCullough
and two brothers, Wayne McCullough and Robert Jackson.
Lonnie was lovingly raised by TJ and Clarence King of
Cassville, Missouri. He served his country in the United
States Army and was stationed in Germany. Lonnie worked
in law enforcement most of his life including working for
the City of Cassville Police Department for twenty-eight
years. He served as a city Patrolman, as the DARE Officer
and Public Education Officer and for the last seven years
as Chief of Police in Cassville. Upon his retirement in
April of 2008, the city dedicated the new Cassville Police
Department to Lonnie. In addition to his law enforcement
duties, Lonnie was a devoted community volunteer. For many
years he assisted with the Cassville Schools Hooked On
Fishing Program, Kids Fishing Day at Roaring River,
Cassville Jr. Football League and the Cassville 2000

Missouri. He served his country in the United States Army
as a military police officer during the Korean War. He
served as mayor of Wheaton and was a charter member of
Wheaton Southern Baptist Church. He was preceded in death
by his wife, Fern on July 16, 2005, his parents and his

In 1982 Darrell left education to join Jack Henry and
Associates as the 19th employee of the company, working on
the development of several early products. He left JHA in
1990 to become a partner in Data Trade which was later
acquired by JHA. Darrell returned to JHA in 1998 to lead
the development of imaging product Silhouette. He retired
in 2010. In 1963 Darrell married Karen Kampmeier, who
preceded him in death in 1997. He was also preceded in
death by daughter Lori Swearingen and her husband Bo, in
2010. In 2000 Darrell married Jane (Hager) Sligar.

Marie Tittle and to this union came four children, eleven
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Johnny walked
closely with his Lord and Savior, preaching the word of
God as an evangelist beginning at the young age of 11.
He later became ordained as a minister in the Pentecostal
Holiness Church, serving as pastor of the Pentecostal
Holiness Church in Mesquite, Texas. nny, Marie and family
moved from Texas to Cassville in 1967, where they owned
and operated Reid Hardware. Johnny later built homes and
investment properties and served as a realtor. Johnny
served his community as a Cassville R-4 District school
board member and President of the Cassville Athletic
Booster Club. Johnny and Marie subsequently returned to
Texas in the 1980’s, where they lived before returning
home to Cassville to retire.

short order cook and she was a waitress. She spent some
weekends while Bud was in the service driving to Little
Rock, AR to see him. Together they owned and operated Pepsi
Cola Distributing Co. in Liberal, KS. Nellie was a
bookkeeper and clerk for their business. They also
traveled helping Bud’s sister and her husband sell
concessions for the Shrine Circus. They retired and moved
to Knob Hill Acres in Shell Knob, MO in 1971. Nellie was a
charter member and a very active member of First Christian
Church of Shell Knob. Bud passed away in May of 1997.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a stepson, Larry
Cavner; 2 sisters, Myrtle Liedtke and Pearl Boaz and 2

San Antonio, Texas, she was united in marriage to Melvin
H.Waldron, Jr., who was stationed in San Antonio with the
United States Air Force. Throughout his twenty years of
service, they lived in many states until they settled in
Spring Hill, Florida in 1968, upon retirement. After her
husband’s illness, Alice and Melvin returned to Wheaton
and the Cassville area. During her lifetime, Alice was
employed in various food service establishments, with her
last employment being with Wheaton Public Schools.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband,
Melvin, a brother, Gene Pruitt and a nephew, Steve Abram.

addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his
first wife, Frances Louise (Patterson) DeWitt, and his two
sons, James Ray DeWitt, Jr. and Marcus Allen Frank DeWitt,
in September of 1981.

November, 2007, he married Ruby “Louise” Pratt.
Preceding
him in death were his parents; his first wife, Evelyn;
second wife, Wilma; four sisters, Mary Mitchell, Mildred
Vollman, Betty Harris and Harriet McComas; two brothers,
Wayne Harker and Harold Harker; two daughters-in-law,
Shirley Harker and Christine Harker and two grandchildren,
Scott and Jason Lampe. On October 16, 1939, he entered the
Service of our country. He was assigned to Coast Artillery,
Antiaircraft Battalion. His service included Fort
Leavenworth, Kansas, Fort Winfield Scott, California,
Fort Clayton, Panama Canal Zone; Fort Bliss, Texas and
also Camp Maxey, Texas; Greenock, Scotland and England. In
January, 1945, he was sent overseas and saw duty in the
European Theatre. Engagements were France, Belgium,
Luxemburg, Battle of the Bulge, Siegfried Line, Battle of
Rhineland and Central Europe. He had also been an artillery
gunner both surface and anti aircraft famous with, 50 cal.
37, 40, 90mm and 105MM weapons. Re-assigned to the
infantry, he was awarded the combat infantry badge. When
the war ended he was with Patton’s 3rd, 87th Division,
346th Infantry, Company E, at Schonsnieder, Germany. He
was discharged at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas in June, 1945.
For thirty-seven years Mel worked for Trans World Airlines
in Kansas City, Missouri and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, as
an Airframe and Power plant Mechanic until his retirement
in 1982. During that time he was offered a position with
the FAA at Oklahoma City, but decided to stay with TWA. In

They settled down in Cassville on the farm where they
raised cattle. She began working at the family-owed Sunset
Valley Nursing Home. She went on to receive her
administrator license. They owned and operated a number of
businesses, a nursing home where the Barry County Care
Center currently resides, Johnson Retail, Saddle & Shoe
Repair Shop, DX Service Station, where she handled all the
bookkeeping. In 1981 she began working for the Washburn
Schools as a custodian. She met and married Lewis Dalton
on April 9, 1982 in Miami, Oklahoma. In addition to her
parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband,
Charles William Writer; one sister, Erma Hilton; one
nephew, Alan Stubblefield, one niece, Trisha Vault; and

Loren and Alma (White) Horner was born on April 6, 1925 at
the family farm near Cassville. He attended school at
Horner community school and later Cassville public school.
Bob served in World War II from 1944-1945 in France as an
infantryman in the 3rd Army and was awarded the Purple
Heart for injuries sustained in the Battle of the Bulge.
He was discharged in 1946 and returned to farming in Barry
County. He married Irene McGlothlin on March 3, 1953 and
they made their home near Cassville where they raised
three children. Bob also worked at the shoe factory in
Cassville for 14 years. In addition to his parents, he was
preceded in death by his wife, Irene, on April 15, 2009.

attended school in Barry County, Missouri. For many
years, Glenn owned and operated the G & C Painting Company
in the Purdy and Cassville area of southeastern Missouri.
He later was trained as a turret lathe operator used for
repetitive production of duplicate parts in the
construction of valves for the Geo Source Valve Company.
He continued to work in that capacity for many years.
He was preceded in death by parents, George Thomas
Childress and Hazel Juanita Childress Levi; and a brother,
Bobby Ray Childress.

Jim Nesbitt Ford and later Les Jacobs Ford, retiring five
years ago.

farm. Gene was employed as postmaster in Exeter for
several years. They lived on their farm for 42 years prior
to moving to Springfield in 1988. He is preceded in death
by both his parents: Homer and Mellie; five brothers:
Charles, Famous, Fulton, Ward, and Ed Terry; and three
