Research Note: She was the daughter of Emmett Howard Cary and Edna Oneita (Chester) Cary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Don Stewart; her brother, Emmett Lee Cary and sister, Edith Joan (Cary) Carter Vaught. Edna Mae went by “Speck,” a nickname she earned as a child and carried throughout her life. She was a retired registered nurse. She graduated from Anderson High School in Anderson, Missouri; Saint John’s School of Nursing, in Joplin, Missouri; and Cornell University, in New York, New York, specializing in neonatal care.

Research Note: She was born the daughter of Edward and Sarah Elizabeth (Morgan) Nelson in Provo, Utah where she spent her childhood. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1944, and later married and moved to Oklahoma City where her children were born and raised. After a short stay in Mountainburg, AR, she moved to Monett in 1986 when she married Spencer who brought much happiness to our family. Mom loved Monett, her friends, and her church family and chose to stay in the area after Spencer’s death in 1992. Norma was predeceased by her husband, Spencer A. Wilkins; her parents; her brother, J. LeRoy Nelson, of Orem, UT; and three grandchildren.

On September 10, 1949, in Berryville, Arkansas, she was united in marriage to James “JD” Henson. Growing up Wanda attended Cassville Schools. She lived her entire life in the Cassville area. Wanda worked as an aide for Oxford Home Health.

He joined the United States Marines serving for three years, and later re-enlisted in the United States Air Force from which he retired. He served in the Korean Conflict, as well as the Vietnam War. Mr. King later worked as a deputy sheriff for Mercer County in Princeton, and worked at Fasco in Cassville for eight years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother

Research Note: He was son of the late Roy Bell Nichols and Etta Anna (Scott) Nichols. Jack had attended school in Monett and served his country honorably during the 1950’s in the National Guard. As a young man, he had worked for the Monett Police Department. For many years, Jack also worked with the Monett Volunteer Fire Department. On February 21, 1953, Jack married Peggy Lee Curtis. To this union, three children were born. Jack and Peggy were blessed with over sixty-one years together. Jack was preceded in death by two sisters, Christine DePriest and Mary Terrell.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Berniece Medlin, Audrey Millikan, Dorothy Anderson; one brother, Kenneth; and a daughter-in-law, Donna Medlin. Bill was a life-long member of the Monett community and served on numerous boards including the Monett School Board, Chamber of Commerce, Airport Board, United Missouri Bank Board, and the Monett Special Road District. He was an assistant Boy Scout Master and served on the Ozark Council Board of Boy Scouts. Bill was an ordained deacon. He also served in the National Guard. After working at V. B. Hall Wholesale, Co for several years, he became the manager and then purchased the company in 1970.

Sherman moved back to Aurora in 1984 and he went to work at the EFCO Corporation in Monett as an Engineer and later retired from the Monett Coast To Coast Store and was a member of the Elm Branch Christian Church. On December 31, 2007, he married Gloria Jean Cleek, in Marionville, Missouri. His step-father, John Bonar Moore, also preceded him in death.

Research Note: He was the son of William E. Smith and Elsie (Snider) Smith. He was United in marriage to Jane (Hughson) Smith on February 1, 1953 at Belle Plaine, Kansas. Sidney leaves a sister Johnnie Lee (Smith) Horner and brother in-law Max L. Horner of Kingston, Washington and one nephew Scott Horner of Bamebridge, Washington.Sidney grew up in Cassville and was a 1950 graduate of Cassville High School. He attended the University of Missouri on and athletic scholarship to play football and graduated in 1954 with a B.S. degree in business. Most of his business career was in the Aerospace industry where he traveled extensively both U.S. and abroad. His last assignment in the Aerospace industry was with the Sky Lab project the first manned space station. When he retired from the aerospace industry he returned to Cassville to run his father’s business, Smith Tire and ended his working career as Plant Manager at Plastic Fab in Joplin, Missouri. Sid and Janie retired to Grand Island, Nebraska to be near their son and grandsons.

After high school she moved to Tracy, California, where she worked for the railroad and then a law firm. After marriage and three children, they decided to move back to the family farm, located south of Viola, Missouri in September of 1956, later welcoming their fourth child to the family. Her husband worked the farm and later became a building contractor.

Research Note: He was the son of Frank and Marie (Leoaty) Berning. On March 19, 1946, in Cincinnati, he was united in marriage to Helen Laney. On Thursday, March 19, 2015, they would have been married sixty-nine years. Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, one sister, two step-brothers and one step-sister. John grew up and received his education in Cincinnati, where he graduated from high school. He was inducted in the United States Army on January 17, 1943, and retired after twenty-seven years. He received a bronze star during the Korean War. During his military career, he served the Ambassador to The Republic of Korea as a photographer during two separate tours and served the Ambassador to the Republic of Taiwan as a photographer. After his retirement he moved to Exeter, Missouri to make his home. He attended Cassville First Baptist Church. He was a life member of the American Legion and a life member of VFW. He assisted with the organization of Exeter Lions Club and served as secretary/treasurer. He also served as Mayor of Exeter for two years.

He attended one year at IBM in Springfield, Missouri. He lived nine months in Berryville, Arkansas and a short time in Pioneer, but most of his life was spent in Eagle Rock, Missouri. For thirty years Lyle was employed at Missouri Department of Transportation, retiring as maintenance boss.

In 1986 she moved to Barry County and on August 13, 2004 she was united in marriage to Kelvin Garrison in Pioneer, Missouri. She was a avid animal lover, was never afraid to get her hands dirty, and loved spending time outdoors on the farm where she raised chickens and turkeys. She was proud of the fact that she rode the bull named "Buffalo Bill" at the rodeo in Stella.

She lived all of her life in Barry and Lawrence County and had worked as a dietician at the Aurora Hospital. She attended Madry Christian Union Church prior to becoming a resident of the Aurora Nursing Center. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her brother, Kenneth Haley and his wife, Juanita, of Verona; many nieces, nephews and friends. Her sister, Lorene (Haley) (Vaught) McPhail, also preceded her in death.
