It was published in the Cassville Republican Apr. 10, 1958 - In part it reads: LIFELONG WASHBURN RESIDENT DIED FRIDAY - Charles Ray Cargile, 67 a lifelong resident of Washburn community died at his home near Washburn early Friday morning. Born on July 13, 1890 at Washburn, he had been engaged in he mercantile business there except for a few years that he was employed by the Frisco railroad in Kansas City. In July 1948, he was united in marriage to Ruth Bothne of Washburn and they made their home on the farm northwest of Washburn where he passed away. Surviving in addition to his wife are two brothers, Clint Cargile of Susanville, Calif., and Floy Cargile of Washburn; one sister, Mrs. Cora Williams of Washburn. |

Research Note: He was the son of Jack Olderson Carr, Sr. and Mary Orma (Swindle) Carr. At the age of seven, Jerry moved with his family to Washburn, where he received his education and graduated from Southwest High School. In high school, "Puddy", as known by his family and friends, ran track and field, training in the hollows around their home. On August 13, 1979, he served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged on October 22, 1982. For several years he resided in California, Washington and Iowa before returning to Washburn and began working for Seven Valley Construction, putting in water and sewer pipelines. Painting was his favorite pastime and he was an avid artist. Research Note: Age 82 years old. Donna's Note: Elba Walden Cargile Clark, age 82, of Monett, died at 10:40 p.m. yesterday, December 16, at he home of her daughter in Monett. She was born September 14, 1917, in Bush, Arkansas, and was a daughter of Thomas and Minnie (Huffman) Walden. She had lived eight years in Oaks Apartments before moving into her daughter's home. She had worked as a secretary in the Seligman school district and retired as a transcriber in 1980 from the ACACIA Insurance Company in Washington D. C. She was a Baptist. She married Frank Cargile in Monett in 1944, and he preceded her in death in 1952. She was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
