Research Note: Mr. James was married in Tennessee in 1855. To this union eleven children were born, nine boys and two girls lived to be grown, a son, William James, died in 1894. The remainder of the children are living. Mrs. James died in 1886. In 1890 he was married to Nancy Irvin who died Aug 23, 1906. Mr. James married Caroline Frost, January 1908. He leaves a wife, nine children, thirty-four grand-children and seven great grand-children. Four of the grandson were pall bearers at the funeral. Donna's Note: He was a son of Benjamin and Elizabeth (Gilbreath) James of Blount Co., TN. Donna's Note: The above mentioned son named William H. James was age 21 in 1880 and so in 1894 he would have been around 35 years old. Phyllis' Note: He served in the Union Army, Co. 11, 2nd TN Vol. Cav. This information was taken from his son's obit.
