Research Note: August 18, 1917, Saturday, Cassville Democrat - Wm. Tennis, a good citizen and an old soldier died Saturday night from the infirmities of age. Interment made at Washburn Prairie cemetery, Sunday afternoon. Rev. P. H. Hodge conducting the service. A widow and a large family of grown children are left to mourn his loss. Donna's Note: In 1910, Barry Co., MO, he was 72 years old and listed himself born in OH, his father in KY, and his mother in PA. He had been married 44 years and his wife was Melvina. In 1900 he lived in Springdale, Washington Co., AR, and was age 62, Melvina his wife was age 61, born July 1838. She had 12 children, 11 living. |

He moved to Washburn 42 years ago. He was a member of the Mission Baptist Church in Washburn. He married Diane Henderson on November 19, 1979, in Miami, Oklahoma. Survived by four sons and two daughters. He was preceded in death by one son, Rusty Thompson; and one grandchild. |
