Research Note: Oliver moved to Barry Co., MO, sometime in the 1850's with his family. Before Oliver's service in the 6th Missouri Cavalry he had served with the Missouri State Guard. He participated in the battles of Battle of Wilson's Creek Aug 1861 and the Battle of Cane Hill in Washington Co., AR Nov 1862 After being captured at or near Cassville on or about Aug 1 1863, he was interred at Camp Morton, Indianapolis, Marion Co., Indiana. He became a galvanized Yankee there enlisting in Federal service with Company C 6th US INF. Oliver then deserted at Fort Kearny, NE, in Sep 1865. After the Civil War he was in Carroll Co., AR 1880, Whitman Co., WA, 1900, Los Angeles Co., CA, 1910 and most likely died in Los Angeles Co. CA, January 13, 1917, Saturday, Cassville Democrat - Wade Antle of Whittier, Cal., a son of the late Oliver Antle, is visiting his numerous relatives in this city.
