Research Note: William Thompson Burton enlisted in I Company, 8 MO Infantry Regiment, CSA. He joined, without authority, G Company, James Elliott's Scouts (9th MO Cavalry). He was described as having gray eyes, black hair and 5 feet, 8 inches in height. The obituary of Phillip Jackson Stevens who died in 1900 states that he served under Lieutenant William T. Burton in the Confederate Army.
