Research Note: The 36 Texas Cavalry Regiment CSA was raised in Hays Co., TX by Peter C. Woods who was elected Colonel. The Regiment was mustered on Mar. 22, 1862 at Camp Woods. The Regiment was engaged in patrolling the Corpus Christi, Brownsville, Eagle Pass triangle. In Feb. 1864 the Regiment was ordered to LA for the Red River Campaign. They arrived too late for the battle at Pleasant Hill. On 12 April 1864 the Regiment was engaged at Blair's Landing, The 36 remained in LA patrolling the Atchafalaya River from Alexandria to Opelousas. In February 1865 the 36 returned to TX and was disbanded at Houston on May 21, 1865. Charles Day's brother's John Wylie Day, Joseph Francis Day and Addison Greenfield Buchanan Day all served with the 36 Regiment.
