He was discharged on January 3, 1862. On March 5, 1862 he enlisted in Frazier's Company, 6 MO Volunteer Infantry, MO State Guard. He was paid to April 1, 1862. On July 19, 1862 Thomas B. Logan enlisted at Cedar Creek, Marion Co., AR in I Company 8 MO Infantry Regiment. I Company was commanded by Captain James Montgomery of Cassville, Barry Co., MO. On October 6, 1862 Thomas Benton Logan was commissioned Junior Second Lieutenant Lt. Logan served at the battles of Prairie Grove, AR., Helena, AR, Pleasant Hill, LA. and Jenkins Ferry, AR. In the winter 1863-1864 the 8 MO Infantry Regiment was renamed the 11 MO Infantry Regiment, CSA. General Order No. 64, dated 1864, Richmond, VA., named Junior Second Lt. Thomas B. Logan on a Roll of Honor for his conspicuous courage and good conduct at the Battle of Jenkins Ferry, AR., while serving with I Company, 8 MO Infantry Regiment, CSA. Because of difficulty in procuring medals and badges of distinction it was ordered the names of those reported worthy of this distinction be inscribed on a Roll of Honor per General Order No. 131, Richmond, VA., dated October 3, 1863. On June 30,1864 Thomas B. Logan was promoted First Lieutenant. The 11 Regiment was surrendered on May 26, 1865 at New Orleans, LA. On June 30, 1865 Thomas Benton Logan was administered the oath of allegiance at Cassville, Barry Co., MO. |
