Will of Jackson Howerton

 

 

In The name of God Amen I Jackson Howerton of the county of Barry and State of Missouri do hereby make and publish this my last will and testament as follows to (wit)

First I desire my funeral expenses and all my other debts be first paid then

(Second) I give and bequeath unto Hannah my beloved wife during her natural life all my real estate and personal estate which said estate consists of land and other property

(Third) I give and bequeath unto my son Jackson Howerton at the death of my beloved wife one half of the farm that I now reside upon and one half the farming utensils if any are left at the death of my wife

(Forth) I give and bequeath unto my son William Howerton at the time of the death of my beloved wife the other half the farm that I now reside upon and one half the farming utensils if any are left at the death of my beloved wife.

(Fifth) I further give and bequeath after the death of my beloved wife unto William and Jackson Howerton my two sons thears and thears alike my household and kitchen furniture if any be left at the time of her death to be divided equally between as they may see proper.

(Sixth) I give and bequeath unto my daughter Hannah Howerton after the death of my beloved wife one negro girl a slave named Sarah age about 20 or 24 years to have and to hold the same as her absolute property and to her heirs at law of her body.

(Seventh) I give and bequeath unto my son James Howerton at the death of my beloved wife one half of my horses cattle sheep and hogs bonds notes and money that may be left on hand at the death of my beloved wife. 

(Eighth) I five and bequeath unto my son Rufus Howerton the other half of my horses cattle sheep hogs bonds notes and money that may be on hand at the death of my beloved wife Hannah.

(Ninth) I give and bequeath unto my two grand children Julia and William Howerton after the death of my beloved wife Hannah one dollar each.

I do appoint Jackson Howerton and William Howerton the executors of this my last will and testament in testimony whereof I have hereunto set my name and seal this 16th of November AD 1857.
