Reference: Edward Wormington and
Elizabeth Haddock married in Barry Co., MO, December 25, 1853. Elizabeth was
a daughter of Charles and Sarah (Collins) Haddock. She and Edward are both
buried in New Site Cemetery. Edward Wormington was killed by bushwhackers Oct 9, 1865, Barry County, MO. Edward was shot from ambush by bushwhackers. Edward had just returned to his home, which was located somewhere near the New Site Cemetery (west and south of Monett). The family said that he was resting on a pallet in front of the fireplace when somebody, allegedly a neighbor, slipped into the house and fatally shot him in the back. His widow, the former Elizabeth Haddock, was left with young children and was pregnant with another. |

age 46, and was born in MO, and she listed her father and mother were born
in MO.
Children were listed as Johnathan H., male, age 22, born in MO; George A., female, age 18, born in MO; and Mary E. E., female, age 14, born in MO. The children listed that their father was born in MO.
