Arrested: A United States Marshal went to Aix, Saturday, in company with Cassville officers, and arrest Postmaster Bowman, of that place on the charge of opening al letter. From the best information obtainable it seems that Mr. Bowman has been in a factional fight with some of the Aix patrons and there were threats made that he would be reported to the department. A letter address to Lee Robertson, mail carrier, from the department, was opened by Mr. Bowman. It contained a check for salary. Mr. Bowman erased the name on the envelope and re-addressed it to himself, afterwards delivering the letter to Robinson. Robertson sent the envelope to Washington and the matter was traced down. Mr. Bowman does not deny the charge. Mr. Bowman came to Barry County some months ago from Oregon. He has been highly spoken of as a citizen and his friends believe him to have been under unnatural excitement when he committed the act. He was taken to Springfield, Saturday night, and Monday was bound over to await the action of the Federal Grand Jury.
