November 6, 1909, Saturday, Cassville Democrat, Barry Co., MO Ref: Haddock Family Web Page - State Historical Society of MO Microfilm

Simon Bumgartner of near Pierce City, had two large grey horses, a spring wagon and harness stolen early Friday morning, for which a reward of $50 is offered. Wm. Smerdon and a Mr. Colbert of near Pierce City, spent Saturday night in this city, hunting the stolen horses. They feel confident from a description given by Mrs. Thomas Laidlaw of near McDowell that the thief passed her residence sometime Saturday afternoon, coming up Flat Creek and was again described by some movers whom he met coming up the creek and after passing; turned back and passed them again, then they lost his track. They went southeast Sunday morning.
