March 31, 1906, Cassville Democrat, Saturday, Barry Co., MO

Drowned in James River:  Claud Foster, 17-year-old son of Chas. Foster of Cape Fair, was drowned in James River, March 20, while duck hunting. He had shot a duck which fell on the opposite side of the river and in order to get the duck he took off his cloths and swam across the river, and on his way back it is supposed he was attacked by cramps, which caused him to drown. Two other boys were with him but were too badly excited to do anything. The body was recovered shortly. The young man was well known and had many friends in the eastern part of this county, who will be sorry to learn of his untimely death.
