Prominent Rural Letter Carrier Dies

W. J. Osborne, one of the prominent rural letter carriers of the county, who since 1904 has been a carrier out of Seligman, died June 25, after an illness extending over a period of several weeks. Born in Lee county, Virginia, Jan 3. 1872, he came to this county with his parents in 1878 where he grew to manhood and married. In 1904 he was chosen as a rural letter carrier out of Seligman and was a faithful worker until he was forced to leave his work a short time ago on account of a cancer. He was taken to Springfield and operated on but received no relief. In 1884 he professed faith in Christ and united with the Presbyterian church and has been a consistent Christian. He was also a member of the Masonic and Odd Fellow Fraternities. He is survived by his wife and other relatives and also leaves to mourn his passing many friends. Funeral services were held at the church in Seligman Thursday, June 26, conducted by Rev. C. M. Smith and interment made in the Seligman cemetery where the funeral service of the Masonic and Odd Fellow orders were given.
