Defenders of National Honor

We are collecting the roll of men from Barry Co., MO, who served in the United States Army and Navy in the Mexican War.

1. Please do not post names that are not connected to Barry County. If they lived in Barry County or were buried in Barry County then you can submit the information here.

2. The note area can be used to add things that might not be written on documents.

3. If unknown - simply use unknown in the blank.

5. I will not accept entries that I can not understand. Retyping information you submit creates a lot of unnecessary work. Be accurate and do not change the information that is written on documents.

6. The coordinator reserves the right to reject or edit any or all entries that you submit.

DO NOT USE UPPER CASE WORDS FOR SURNAMES in the research note as text.

Example:

Not HADDOCK - use Haddock.

A note at the bottom can explain when facts seem to be incorrect or added information.

Examples Below:

Research Note: Bob's stone reads that he was born in 1846 not 1848 as the death certificate reads. His age at death that is given on the death certificate would make the 1846 date the correct one.

Research Note: Bob joined the military forces in Connecticut and served there but came to Barry County at the end of the war. He is buried in Newton County, MO, but lived most of his life in Barry County on Capps Creek.
