*** The moving of the old house owned by Claud Hessee from the Old Pharis lot north of Mrs. Hobbs' residence to a lot in the south part of town, recalls to the older citizens of Cassville, much interesting history of the early of the days of the town. The building is now the oldest in the the town. When built it was a farm house of Littleberry Mason, father of Mrs. C. C. Pharis and was a single room log house. Later additional rooms were built and still later the house was weather-boarded with pine. It was the farm home of Mr. and Mrs. Mason; the farm including what is now much of Cassville. This house and the house now occupied by S. M. Trolinger are the oldest houses in Cassville and were erected long before the Civil War. *** Wm. M. Martin died Friday at his home near Cross Hollows. He had been in bad health for sometime with a complication of troubles. He was about seventy years of age. Mr. and Mrs. Martin and son, Albert, came to the Cross Hollows locality about three years ago from Chicago. During the short time they have lived in this county they have made many friends who offer their sympathy to the aged and bereaved widow and to the sons. *** Mr. and Mrs. N. L. Hailey left Sunday evening for Little Rock, Ark., and will spend this week there attending he Confederate Soldiers reunion. *** W. A. Boucher of Purdy was in Cassville Wednesday of last week. He will attend the Confederate reunion at Little Rock this week. His three brothers are also to attend, one brother, P. A. Boucher, lives northwest of Cassville, one lives at Pierce City and another lives in Oklahoma. *** The preliminary trial of Clay Stubblefield, charged with felonious assault on S. S. Cornelius, was held at Star school House Saturday and he was bound over to the circuit court and his bond fixed a $500.
