Cassville Republican, Thursday, Weekly Paper, January 16, 1913 Beeson - Morgan A quiet home wedding took place at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Morgan, four miles east of Neosho, on Wednesday, the 8th at 4:30 o'clock, when Roy Beeson and Josephine Morgan were united in Marriage. The ceremony was solemnized by Rev. Carlin of Granby, who spoke the words that made them husband and wife. Mrs. Beeson is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Morgan, a well-known and a very accomplished young lady. Mr. Beeson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Beeson, east of Cassville, is a well-known and rising young man. They left on a wedding tip to return to Cassville, which they will make their future home. The following relative and friends were present: Mr. and Mrs. S.W. Morgan and family, Charles Morgan of Racine, Mrs. Widener and son Bert, Virgie Widener, Mr. and Mrs. Box and daughter, Velma, Ira Mathis, Martha Punke of Jay Bird, Lillie Thurman, Nora Stankard, Ina Elmore, Metta Quinby, Mabel Reek, Jesse Austin of Neosho, Rev. Carlin of Granby. Miner & Mechanic *** Washburn Prairie News: Saturday night, Jan. 11, 1913, the death angel entered the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Burnett and claimed for its victim, their daughter, Stella. She had been in poor health for sometime with lung trouble. She was born Oct 3, 1890, making her 22 years, 3 months and 8 days old. She was converted at this place Nov 30, 1906, and had lived a consistent Christian life every since. She had such a loving disposition which made her a favorite among all. She always had a kind word and a mile for everyone. The loved ones would not weep for Stella is in the land of rest. We should all strive to meet her in a better land, where thee will no sad partings. Oh! how sad that one so young must be taken from her loved ones. But God's will be done. She leaves a father, mother, four brothers, three sisters, a wide circle of loved ones and friends to mourn her death. Funeral services were conducted at the church Sunday evening at 3 o'clock by Bro. M. W. Coons after which the body was conveyed to the cemetery and tenderly laid to rest to await the resection morn. *** Washburn News: Died at her home, Jan 11, 1913, Miss Stella Burnett, age 22 years. She was the second daughter of Elijah and Lizzie Burnett. She had been in failing health since last June, but none of her friends suspected the end was so near until just a few days before her death. She was a sweet Christian girl, always cheerful and thoughtful of the happiness of others. She had many friends and was a favorite with them all. Life was very sweet and promising to her. She will be greatly missed in the home. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of all. The funeral was preached by Bro., Coons and her remains were laid to rest in the Washburn Prairie Cemetery to await the resurrection morn. *** Old Citizen Dies: John Adcock, an old and pioneer citizen of Barry County, passed away at his home in Washburn about 12 o'clock Saturday at the advanced age of 84 years. His death was due to old age and Bright's disease. Mr. Adcock was born in Virginia where he was reared to manhood and came to Missouri in 1856 with his parents who settled on a farm north of Washburn. There and in Washburn, he has lived since, until his death. Soon after coming to this county he was married to Martha George to whom survives. Ten children were born to this union, five of who survive. They are Chas. Adcock of Okmulgee, Okla., John Adcock of Wheaton, Mrs. Kate Westmoreland of Kansas City, Mrs. Dixie Gullies and W. B. Adcock of Washburn. Short funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. P. H. Hodge of Washburn and remains interred at the Washburn Prairie Cemetery. *** Dead: Miss Bettie Stephenson, passed away at her home, about 10 miles east of Cassville, Jan 8, 1913, aged 22 years, 8 months and 14 days. She professed faith in Christ at the home of Bro. Harvey Aldridge, Sept 9, 1909. During her sickness she never complained but after said she was ready to go when the Lord called for her. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. F. M. Smallwood in the Baptist Church at Mineral Springs, after which her body was laid to rest in the Mineral Springs Cemetery to await the resurrection of the just. To the bereaved mother and all the relatives we extend our sympathy. *** The Monett papers on Tuesday of this week announced the sudden death of Orvell J. Vermillion, son of Mr. and Mrs. Berl Vermillion of Monett, Monday night, age 21 years, 6 months, and 28 days. He had been suffering from heart trouble for some time but his death came unexpectedly. Funeral services were held at the family residence Wednesday afternoon. *** Miss Stella Burnett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Burnett of Washburn Prairie, died at the home of her parents, Saturday night, age 22 years, 3 months, and 8 days. Her death was due to lung trouble. The funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon by Rev. Coons of this city at the Washburn Prairie Church and interment was made in the Washburn Prairie Cemetery. *** Mrs. Nancy Erwin, an old and highly respected citizen, died Monday morning at the home of her son, William Erwin, about two miles west of Exeter, at the ripe old age of 88 years. Mrs. Erwin was the wife of the late William Erwin, and was a pioneer citizen of this county. The funeral services were held Tuesday at the True Love Church near Washburn.
