According to Stan McKay (third great-grandson of the McComas'),
"A lot of researchers into the Hadley and McComas line that came to Barry
before the civil war from Kentucky believe that a George Washington McComas
and his spouse a Elmira ( it has been spelled many different ways) Hadley
are buried at what is what I believe is the old Hadly homestead because
there is a tombstone with their name there. I know that they came to Saskatchewan
Canada about 1910 to join their son George Wahsington McComas Jr. and passed
away there. I saw their graves in the Shellbrook Cemetery Saskatchewan
and have their death certificates from Saskatchewan. I believe that they
purchased the marker from some salesman just in case." (Photo courtesy
