   Sarah Louise (Hurt) Ramsey

Sarah Louise Hurt was born October 27, 1893, at Golden, Missouri. She went out West in about 1912. She went out West in about 1912. She worked as a practical nurse and as a beauty operator.
 
She met and married Charles Ramsey in about 1914. They settled on a large orange ranch near a canal in Arlington, California. At one time their orange grove received the top rating for the state of California.
 
Besides helping to raise the four children, Sally also did a lot of canning, was active in the activities of the Methodist Church, and also was active socially.
 
She and Mr. Ramsey were divorced after many years of marriage, and Sally began driving across the country visiting relatives and friends.
 

She was a cook on the Alaska Railroad for ten years. When she visited Seattle during the year of the World's Fairs in 1962, it became known that she was suffering from cancer. She died of cancer in about 1964 and is believed to be buried at Riverside, California. Sally and her husband Charles were the parents of four children as follows: Thurston, Mary Elizabeth, Charles Virgil and Phyllis Ramsey.
