Arlene Nimmo My father is Glen Robert, son of Phonix Alvin, son of Solomon. My Dad talked about his Grandpa Sol often. He said Sol had a swollen hand when he remembered him, and it was caused from a splinter. It remained swollen, but he could chock wheat and bale hay with the best. When his hand bothered him, he would wear a sock over it. He went to the Mayo Clinic in 1926 for treatment. They amputated his hand, and he, subsequently, died. My Grandpa, Alvin, took the train to Rochester, Minnesota and retrieved his body, taking it to Monett, MO.
