The year 1906 is reckoned from the ages of the Dunlap children. The mother of John, Ollie, and Ray (my grandmother) had died just a short time before leaving these very young children. Brings tears to my eyes every time I look at it.

My Aunt Ollie became the little Mother for a few years until their father married Sarah Walden Weddington. She was a widow and had 3 children of her own. With the 5 children of James Tennessee Dunlap and  Sarah's 3, the family became a sizeable one. They then had 4 more daughters, Rena, Martha, Nellie and Thelma, make a family of 12 children.
