Nothing is known about George Simpson, except that it is assumed that he lived in Barry County and was listed on the 1860 census in the Washburn area and as a son of John Rose and Nancy Ann (Spradling) Simpson. It is known, for a fact, that the Spradling and Simpson families removed to Franklin Co., MO, and were living in the same area where James Harvey Mooney was born. George Simpson was listed as the father on the death certificate of John Simpson, who was a brother of James Mooney's.  John Simpson is buried near James Mooney in Washburn Prairie Cemetery.
