BERRY, ERUNDEN, JOHNSON posted by Jim Jackson on Friday, March 13, 1998

Searching for descendants of Lauren and Prudence (ERUNDEN) BERRY, who lived in Barton County in 1900. Lauren was the son of William Berry and Nancy JOHNSON. William Berry was born in Washington County, VA on 30 May 1814, and moved to OH by 1840. He married Nancy Johnson, and they had 8 children, four of which died in childhood. By the late 1840's William Berry and family had moved to Mahaska County, Iowa. Their oldest son, James, died in Little Rock, AR in General Steele's Union army in 1864. The remaining three sons were John Hugh, Lauren Bovell and Charles Gilbert Berry. Charles and Lauren (with their families) moved to Vernon and Barton Counties (respectively) in the late 1800's by covered wagon from southwestern Iowa. Charles (my great great grandfather) had moved back to Iowa by 1910, but Lauren may have remained in MO. The children of Lauren and Prudence were Elbert M. Berry and Joseph C. Berry.
